Before the session begins:
- Arrive on time and sit on the blue floor area until the class begins. DO NOT go on any equipment.
- Make sure you have been to the toilet before the session starts. You will be allowed to go during the session with your coaches’ permission but you MUST put your shoes on and go in pairs.
- Make sure you have plenty of water before the session starts (we are no longer allowing children to leave the gym to get water from the bowling alley as this presents many Health and Safety Issues).
- If you are more than 20 minutes late for the start of a session you may not be allowed to join in as the introduction and warm up will have finished. If you know you will be late for whatever reason speak to the Head Coach who may be able to make allowances.
- We expect gymnasts to wear leotards with or with out gym shorts.
- In the summer gymnasts may wear sports/gymnastics crop tops and shorts but tops must not be low cut.
- In the winter gymnasts may wear sports/gymnastics leggings or joggers as long as they do not cover the feet.
- Gymnasts may wear their own leotards. We do have club leotards and can advise you on the best place to purchase any gymnastics attire.
- Gymnasts MUST NOT wear any clothing with zips, buttons or other metal adornments. Hoodies can be worn during the warm up but MUST be taken off afterwards.
- Hair MUST be secured back away from the face. If the gymnast has particularly long hair they must wear it in a bun or a doubled ponytail.
- Do not use hard plastic clips or Alice bands to secure hair.
- As of April 2014 British Gymnastics adopted a total NO JEWELLERY Policy, this includes coaches wedding bands and you are no longer allowed to tape over jewellery.
- DO NOT come to gymnastics wearing any jewellery.
- Gymnasts must train in bare feet or gym shoes if preferred.
- Coaches reserve the right to refuse gymnasts’ participation in a session on the grounds of reasonable safety if any of the above rules have not been adhered to as this invalidates both the gymnasts and the clubs insurance.
